해월 최시형의 입장에서 본 1871년 영해
이 연구의 목적은 신미년(1871) 영해동학을 바라보는 해월의 입장을 고찰하는 데 있다. 해월의 생각과 결행을 확인할 수 있는 자료 『최선생도원기서』와 당시의 법설을 중심 자료로 삼았다. 해월의 생애를 통시적으로 담은 『도원기서』의 시각은 충실하게 수용하고, 해월의 법설은 영해혁명 전후를 중심으로 다뤄 법설에 숨은 뜻이 영해동학에 어떻게 영향을 미쳤는가를 살펴보고자 한다. 이 연구의 내용은 첫째, 해월의 사람됨을 헤아린다. 자신의 주장을 고집하지 않고 다수의 의견을 따르지만 실패의 결과는 자신의 책임으로 돌렸다. 둘째, 해월의 면모가 드러나는 법설을 살펴보았다. 모든 사람들이 이해할 수 있는 비유를 통해 누구나 마음에 한울님이 있음을 가르치면서 차별 없는 세상을 추구하였다. 셋째, 영해에서 동학교도들이 중심이 된 혁명이 가능했던 이유를 살펴보았다. 해월은 이필제는 물론 동학교도들의 목숨 건 개벽 의지와 한치도 다를 것이 없었으므로 영해의 혁명이 성립될 수 있었다. 이 연구의 결과 해월의 일화와 말씀을 통해 해월의 도량이 미치지 않는 곳이 없음을 알게 되었다. 스승 사후 안정적으로 포덕한 결과 동학교도들은 영해에서 그 응집된 힘을 발휘할 수 있었다. 해월은 일상에서 혁명을 만들어내는 삶을 살았으며 그 과정에 영해동학이 놓여 있다. 이필제는 물론 동학교도들이 추구한 개벽 세상에 대한 절실함은 해월도 다르지 않았다. 개벽의 출발은 경주와 친연성을 가진 영해에서 역동적인 움직임으로 나타났다.
Yeonghae Donghak in 1871 from the perspective of Haewol Choi Si-hyung
T h e p u r p o s e o f t h i s s t u d y i s t o e x a m i n e S h i n M i year(1871) Haewol’s position on Yeonghae Donghak. 『Choi Seonsaengdowongiseo』 and the laws of the time were used as the main data to confirm Haewol’s thoughts and actions. The perspective of 『Dowongiseo』, which contains Haeweol’s life diachronically, is faithfully accepted, and Haeweol’s laws are dealt with before and after the Yeonghae Revolution to examine how the meaning hidden in the laws influenced Yeonghae Donghak. The contents of this study are, first, to consider Haewol’s personality. Although he did not insist on his own point of view and followed the majority opinion, he blamed the consequences of failure on his own. Second, I looked at the laws that reveal the aspect of Haewol. Through a parable that everyone can understand, they pursued a world without discrimination by teaching that everyone has Hanul in their hearts. Third, the reason why the revolution led by Donghak students was possible in Yeonghae was examined. Haewol was no different from the will of the Donghak students as well as Yi Pil-je, who risked their lives, so the revolution of Yeonghae could be established. As a result of this study, through Haewol’s anecdotes and sayings, it was found that there is no place where Haewol’s magnanimity does not reach. As a result of being stably raised after the death of their teacher, the Donghak students were able to demonstrate their condensed power in Yeonghae. Haewol lived a life of creating a revolution in everyday life, and Yeonghae Donghak was in the process. Pilje Lee as well as Haewol were no different in their desperate need for the Gaebyeok world pursued by Donghak students. The start of Gaebyeok appeared as a dynamic movement in the territorial sea, which has an affinity with Gyeongju.
